Mayfair takes its name from the annual fortnight-long May Fair that took place on the site that is Shepherd Market today. Mayfair is home to The Ritz, Savile Row, world-famous for its tailoring, and New Bond Street which is known for its auction houses; the most famous being Phillips and Sotheby's. The wildly cosmopolitan area is a fantastic place to shop from designer clothes shops like Dolce & Gabbana to department stores.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was born in her Grandfather’s house in Mayfair and spent most of her infancy living here. Prince Philip also had his stag night at the nearby Dorchester Hotel
